Malignum Castrum in Os de Balaguer annually hosts leading artists —headliners at prestigious international festivals in the fields of jazz and improvised music— offering solo performances or taking on this challenge for the first time (an exclusive premiere) in the frame of this festival.
Why Os de Balaguer?
A dry, rugged land, renowned for its light, the clarity of its atmosphere (which offers the chance to gaze upon a unique starry sky at night) and its silence. An ideal environment for contemplation, allowing the most original artistic creations (such as the remarkable works of sculptor Leandre Cristòfol). A perfect setting for the profound appreciation of austere, delicate and exquisite performances such as those to arise in the framework of this festival.
A festival which, beyond its recreational and social aspects, fosters the experience of live music, the indescribable mystery of a unique communion between musician and listener, artist and audience.
Músicos seleccionados son invitados a tocar en un marco diseñado para propiciar del surgimiento de creaciones siempre irrepetibles: obras que pertenecen a ese único espacio, a ese único tiempo y sólo a quienes nos acompañan. Una concepción abierta e integradora de lo que jazz puede significar —más allá del entretenimiento— que convierte cada concierto en un «estreno absoluto».
